Driving Directions to Largs for the Millport Ferry

Driving from Glasgow / Glasgow International Airport / Greenock to Largs

When travelling from Glasgow/Glasgow International Airport there are two ways you can go. The first option is to drive down the coast, through Greenock. From Glasgow, head west on the M8 towards Greenock, and then from Greenock head south on the A78 towards Largs. You will pass through Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie before arriving at the north end of Largs. Continue in to the town centre by following the main road which runs adjacent to the promenade, offering lovely views of the Clyde and the Islands. You can then park your car and head on foot to the ferry which departs from the pier or drive round to the ferry and take your car across to the Island of Cumbrae.

The second option is to head west on the M8, and shortly after the airport turn off, you take the A737 towards Irvine onto the dual carriageway. Pass by Johnstone, Kilbarchan and Howwood, then turn right onto the A760 at the small roudabout, heading into Lochwinnoch (you should pass The Hungry Monk). Continue on into Kilbirnie and then follow the signs for Largs. This route is slightly quicker, and brings you in at the bottom of the Haylie Brae road, which is at the south end of Largs. Turn right at the traffic lights at the bottom of the hill and the road then takes you right in to Largs town where you will see the ferry pier in front of you.

Driving from Glasgow Prestwick Airport / Irvine to Largs

Driving from Prestwick Airport, you head north on the A78 and follow signs for Greenock and Largs. You will pass the exits for Troon and Irvine as you go, and then follow the signs for Largs/Greenock along the coast to arrive in the south end of Largs where you will see the Marina and Pencil Monument. Continue into the town and the road will bring you to the pier.

You can then take the ferry over to Isle of Cumbrae which only takes 10 minutes !

Remember you can plan your route on our Google Map to Largs page.
